(not so) GRAND OPENING

Vic and I have come up with a means to raise a portion of what would normally be needed to launch this type of thing. We are setting a goal of opening by the Columbiana Street Fair. (the weekend after Labor Day, for those who aren't local) We won't be able to do every that we want to eventually do, but we felt it was important to set a date and get this thing opened.

We will most likely start on the coffee side of things and move toward the second brew as we are able. For those of you that look forward to hanging out over a beer right away, it is our current understanding that we can open and pour your beer without a license.

As always we desire input from our friends as we try to work this into shape over the summer.

Apartment Available

I sat down and realized it's been over a week and a half since we last posted. Life has snuck up and taken our 2brews focus. Steve was out of town, Liz was sick, life was hectic...

So, here's just a quick update...Our front apartment (upstairs) is empty. We have to replace the carpet and paint and we'll be looking for renters. That's priority number one right now, so if you know of anyone...

Thanks for journeying with us!

Dumpster Update

Turns out the dumpster has come and gone. Several guys showed up at the building this afternoon, loaded up the scrap, and drove it away.

If you were planning to come tomorrow, thanks for your willingness!

Thanks again to Jonathan and all who helped load it up. We're making progress :)

Ink for Trash

A quick update on the work going on at The 2Brews building. Last week, my friend Jonathan Perkins (Managing Artist at NIA of Columbiana) traded a tattoo for a roll-off dumpster that he is donating. Tue night 2/10 we will be filling it up with the stuff that came down during the demo party.

Feel free to stop by, even if you aren't able to get dirty.

Thanks again Jonathan.

What do you see?

Right now it's pile of rubble - literally. You have to be careful where you step. You have to come during daylight hours (only one light fixture at the moment). And you'll want to go to the bathroom before you come. It doesn't look like much.

Unless you are looking with your creative eyes. Then it becomes a great space with a tin ceiling and tons of potential.

So here are some of the things I see:

I see a place where a kid might stop in after school for a hot chocolate and know that the person behind the counter is going to care that he is alive...

I see people stopping in after work for a drink. Good day, bad day, doesn't matter. You know when you walk in the door that someone will know you. And maybe you share about your day. Maybe you just hang out and enjoy the break...

I picture creativity - from patrons, from owners, from employees. I LOVE to see people come together to have fun and do something good - maybe it's an open mic night, maybe it's local artists sharing their treasures, maybe it's some type of benefit, maybe we take on a project that makes our little town better...

Ok, if I (who tends to lack imagination) can come up with a few things I'd like to see, then you can too. What would you like to see in that building?

Thanks to Sally and Joe

We had a few guests stop by the building to give us some ideas about remodeling and fitting into the community. So I wanted to thank Joe Myers and Sally Morgenthaler for their time and insights today. I hope that they have time to stop by here at the blog sometime.
